World Cup broadcast by Harmonic in South Africa
The South African Broadcasting Corporation deployed Harmonic’s contribution and distribution solutions to enable live broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The solution used Electra 8000 encoders, Ellipse contribution encoders and ProView integrated receiver/decoders to bring matches live to the fans.

Leading Chinese cable operators Shenzhen Topway Video Communication has chosen Harmonic’s headend and EdgeQAM solutions to expand its HD and VOD offerings. The service expansion enables Shenzhen to deliver 13 high-quality HD channels, as well as HD VOD and enhanced on-demand services such as time-shifted TV.

Harmonic expert wins prestigious ATSC award
Harmonic’s Technical Marketing Manager J. Patrick Waddell was recently awarded the Bernard J. Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award for 2010 at the ATSC Annual Meeting in Washington DC. Named for its first recipient, the award is given each year to an individual “whose technical and leadership contributions to the ATSC have been invaluable and exemplary.”
