Harmonic’s FLXLink™ Commercial Services Solutions enable cable operators to deliver high-speed network access and other value-added services to business, government and education facilities. This bidirectional, CWDM-based solution transmits up to 10 secure dedicated wavelengths over the same fiber that carries residential broadband services. Each wavelength can provision one 100-Mbps service, one 1-Gbps service, or up to eight T1/E1 and one 100-Mbps or 1-Gbps services. The DWDM version, based on pluggable optics, transmits up to 40 secure, dedicated wavelengths over the same fiber. The FLXLink T1/E1 system, unlike complex circuit emulation solutions, delivers true TDM circuits over Ethernet without compromising service quality or reliability. This solution is an ideal method of carrying TDM and Ethernet traffic from cell towers as it requires no complex clocking.

FLXLink maximizes service availability while reducing costs by making the network between the operator and customer completely passive. A wavelength-specific CWDM NIU is deployed at each location to provide a secure two-way link as well as media conversion. The FLXLink system–which is fully interoperable with existing Ethernet/IP and T1/E1 equipment–can be populated with a combination of 100-Mbps, 1-Gbps and T1/E1 units, giving operators the ability to better tailor their services to the needs of the commercial customers within each area and streamline the deployment process. The platform incorporates essential high availability features–such as redundant and hot-swappable power supplies–needed to transport mission-critical services.
